Dutch office buildings: ‘C’ Energy Label requirement as the first hurdle towards 2050

‘C’ Energy Label: first sustainability hurdle for office buildings

The sector is preparing to comply with the imminent requirement and for the subsequent stage. How do owners retain control over their own roadmaps?

Starting in 2023, all office buildings in the Netherlands must have a ‘C’ Energy Label or higher. Beyond 2023 too, the industry will need to keep preparing for 2050: all office buildings must be energy-neutral – and, by extension, Paris Proof – by that time. Building owners can either wait until the regulations compel them to take action – or they can choose to be proactive and take charge right now. CBRE’s Tim Habraken, Frank Verwoerd and Pieter Frederix explore all these issues and more in our new Sustainability Special.
