Million-dollar question

How do you ensure that your retail outlet or property will be among the successful 75% in the future? Data will be indispensable in determining the right strategy. Data about the city, the population, the market and the sectors in which retailers operate. CBRE has modelled all of the data and linked this to high-quality knowledge about the market for a future-proof property strategy.

Significant variations

In order to predict the need for retail space – in each city, region and sector – for the next five years, CBRE has developed a model. Our report highlights some of the striking results, including the extraordinary possibilities for growth in Eindhoven and Rotterdam; how it is that the Groningen ‘hotel and catering paradise’ still remains unsaturated and why Leeuwarden is in dire need of a new retail mix.

The current online retail concept, with free delivery and returns, is an unsustainable model. Unprofitable players are rapidly disappearing. The solution? Smarter and integrated inventory management, with physical stores and distribution centres working together as one. And the store as the natural place for customer contact.
With our all-round approach, we advise owners on the lease, sale or structural upgrading of their retail premises.

Our projects

Maison de Bonneterie

Maison de Bonneterie

When the business closed, a new tenant had to be found for the two historic buildings for the first time in 125 years. A great name was found as the new tenant: H&M opened its flagship store in The Hague, followed by Amsterdam. Extensive renovations were completed to specification and within budget.
Alexandrium Megastores

Alexandrium Megastores

The mission: to enrich and differentiate the offer in Rotterdam’s Alexandrium Megastores, the retail boulevard featuring numerous large branches of well-known chain stores. CBRE found the perfect match in Decathlon, the French sports chain. As a result, the boulevard now offers an even more comprehensive range of consumer products.
Heuvel shopping centre Eindhoven

Heuvel shopping centre Eindhoven

The aim was to renovate the shopping centre, placing it firmly on the map, while also creating the Netherlands’ most sustainable shopping centre. The result? Heuvel is once again the number one shopping centre in Eindhoven with international appeal. It won the European Shopping Centre Award and was named most qualified shopping centre, with a BREEAM-NL In-Use Double Outstanding Certificate.
