Michiel began his career in the legal profession. After several years of working as a junior civil-law notary, he joined CBRE in 2006 as part of the Agency team. He worked there for twelve years in various positions, including in purchase and rental, development and redevelopment, marketing, and office transactions. During that time, Michiel was also partly responsible for expanding the number of CBRE offices across the Netherlands.
Since 2015 Michiel has been focusing more on Special Projects, which include atypical real estate transactions and development and redevelopment propositions, as well as sale and lease-back transactions. As a manager, he heads the Capital Markets Special Projects team and provides strategic advice on matters such as development and redevelopment propositions and sale and lease-back transactions.
Michiel has been a member of the board since 2021 and has also taken on the role of Top City Leader Amsterdam. In this capacity, he focuses on the activities of CBRE in the Amsterdam region, but he is also responsible for the strategic roll-out and expansion of CBRE’s presence in the various cities and regions of the Netherlands.
