An eclectic interior with attention for the specific identity of four different divisions and in which joint facilities and appearance foster interaction. Teamwise and individual, SURF’s new office has it both.
ICT-provider SURF needs new offices for several divisions with each their own identity. The new location has to foster interaction between the divisions and create a sense of community and involvement.
The first step was determining the right surface area for the optimal work environment. The Hoog Overborch, located in Utrecht's Hoog Catharijne building complex, was chosen after a building selection process. During the design phase, SURF decided to add a third division (SURF-bureau) and subtenant SaNS to the new location. Although both parties still had lease contracts, CBRE was able to let the office spaces out to other organisations, avoiding the payment of double rent. Due to a close cooperation with the Hoog Overborch building owner Cório, savings were achieved.
SURF’s new office was completed at the end of December 2014. Now more than 150 employees have a work environment of about 4,220 sq m with a modern and inspiring look and feel. In addition to the common facilities and overall exterior, each floor is customised to ensure that each division of the company retains its own identity.
