A pharmaceutical company is looking for a suitable location in Breda for its new European headquarters: a building that will allow for the successful implementation of a new workplace concept.
The challenge The above-mentioned pharmaceutical company is a subsidiary of a major global player in their field. This means that the new European headquarters in Breda will have to comply with a number of global guidelines set by the parent company. The pharmaceutical company also plans to implement a new workplace concept for their new headquarters that will facilitate a major change in the working practices within the organisation. It is therefore important that employees receive guidance and supervision at an early stage in this transition. The design of the offices must also meet the requirements set out in the new workplace concept.
The approach Our all-round, multidisciplinary CBRE team guided and supported the pharmaceutical client from the moment they requested CBRE’s services until the completion of the project. CBRE advised the client during each and every project phase on matters regarding the interior, the construction of the new building and even in creating support for the new workplace/office concept among employees in order to facilitate a smooth transition.
Implementation CBRE’s team first conducted a search for a suitable location in Breda. When this location was found, the team guided the employees during the implementation process of the new workplace concept. Instead of being assigned to their own workspace in a closed workplace, employees arrived to find an open-plan and transparent working environment where they share flexible workspaces and can work together and communicate simply and efficiently. CBRE prepared the employees for this new workplace concept through interviews, workshops and sessions with various user groups. The team also translated the new concept into a workable design for the interior of the office building and was responsible for all project management tasks throughout the transition.
Results Thanks to CBRE’s full-service approach, the pharmaceutical company relocated to a wonderful open-plan and light office building in Breda that offers all the transparency the client needs. The employees are proud of their new working environment and the way the new workplace concept has been used in their headquarters’ interior design. The client could not have been more pleased with the work done by CBRE’s multidisciplinary team. Not only did CBRE finish the project before the deadline, but the work also complied with the guidelines set by the parent company. Both sides were pleased to find that, as an added bonus, the project also resulted in mutual trust and understanding.
