Accenture is looking for a new office in Utrecht: a building selected and adapted in line with the company’s Amsterdam and Heerlen offices as regards overall office concept and interior design.
The challenge Accenture is a global full-service organisation in the field of strategy and consultancy. The company employs more than 305,000 people worldwide and provides its services in over 120 countries. For its offices, Accenture applies standard design principles, while at the same time seeking to give each location its own identity. Replacing the location in Almere, the Utrecht office is expected to offer a dynamic working environment with an informal edge, a homely atmosphere to balance the transparency of the professional environment.
Our approach As Accenture’s long-term partner, CBRE had previously developed the joint office and interior design concept for the Amsterdam and Heerlen locations with the theme of human touch vs. high-tech. For the new office in Utrecht, CBRE first carried out a location analysis. Once the client had expressed a preference for the Courtyard Building in Papendrecht, CBRE assessed the property in relation to the predefined schedule of requirements. We then developed a new interior based on Accenture’s corporate guidelines.
The project In addition to developing the office and interior design concept, CBRE’s multidisciplinary team took care of the project, site and relocation management. All of Accenture’s needs were addressed on schedule and within budget.
Results The 3,000 m2 area on the fourth floor of the Courtyard Building has been divided into three segments. Visitors enter the premises through a dynamic square which contains the reception desk, a coffee bar and a range of welcoming settings where employees can connect quickly and easily. This point of entry also provides a space where external parties can work.
There is a clear dividing line between the dynamic entrance and the tranquil office environment. For both Accenture and IT consultancy firm Avanade, various types of workspace have been incorporated, including open work spaces, booths, meeting rooms and focus areas. Strips of dark, rough-hewn materials create an office space with depth, varied sightlines and a warm look.
Accenture and Avanade staff turned up for their first working day at the new Utrecht location to find everything in place and running smoothly. They reaped the rewards of the two previous successful collaborations in Amsterdam and Heerlen, which meant Accenture had full confidence in CBRE’s expertise and integrated approach. Deploying a multidisciplinary team once again enabled us to deliver all kinds of efficiency benefits for Accenture in terms of quality, planning and budget.
